Some people enjoy a glass of red wine with their dinner or in the evening to unwind. Is it harmful or helpful? There's conflicting evidence about whether wine may, in fact, be good for you. Red wine contains antioxidants such as polyphenol, and resveratrol, which is thought to help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and prevent damage to blood vessels. More research is needed about resveratrol, but some studies have shown that it can be helpful in reducing inflammation. Those who drink in moderation seem to have a lower risk of heart disease. The key, of course, is the moderation! Enjoy responsibly!
