Epstein-Barr virus or (EBV) is one of the most common human viruses in the world. Most people have it, often contracting it in childhood, and never have symptoms. Some people develop mononucleosis, which EBV can cause. Signs and symptoms include fever, sore throat, fatigue, and even swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Usually symptoms go away within 2-4 weeks, but sometimes the virus can reactivate in some people. People are diagnosed with a blood test that detects antibodies of the virus in the blood. Currently there is no cure or vaccine for this virus, but most people never have problems with it, as it tends to stay inactive. The best way to prevent reactivation if you are EBV positive is by getting your rest, eating a healthy diet, and getting your vitamins and minerals.
