Morning Rituals or Routines

So many of us wake up to an alarm, roll out of bed, and pick up our phones. We scroll aimlessly through social media while we sip our coffee, then get ready for the day. Sound like you? Too many of us are merely existing in survival mode, just navigating one day to the next. There are more productive and fulfilling ways we can start our day that can lead to more productivity and sense of accomplishment. 

Start by developing a positive morning routine. A good way to start is actually the night before. Developing a good nighttime routine helps us get our minds ready for sleep and rest. Write down what you hope to accomplish the next day. List them in order of importance. This helps guide your focus so your day is more productive. Turn off the TV or put down the phone earlier and switch your tasks to calm you, such as reading, having a cup of herbal tea, etc. Create a draft morning routine and stick to it for two weeks. The next morning, set your alarm and get out of bed. Follow your draft routine you have set for yourself and make notes during the day. This will allow you to see how your morning routine makes you feel. Then you can change, add, or tweak your routine as necessary until it feels right. Your routine should reflect your needs and goals. Make each day count!
