What is a "holistic approach?"

It's almost certain you have heard of "holistic" medicine or a person who takes a holistic approach to health and wellness. So what does that mean?

Holistic means to provide support for the person as a whole, and not just their mental health needs. Some would argue it means taking an approach of wellness rather than treating symptoms.

An example of this would be focusing on the health of the entire body and not just parts of the body. It encourages individuals to recognize the whole person: physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, social, and intellectual.

This approach means that if one part of the body is not functioning well, it can affect the other parts of the body. Holistic practitioners use different treatment techniques to help their patients take responsibility for their own well-being.

Your health is in your hands! How you treat your body matters.
