Laughter - The Best Medicine

It has long been stated that laughter is the best medicine. So how true is that statement?

Well, it turns out, there is some truth to it. Researchers have concluded that negative thoughts can actually cause chemical reactions that affect your body by bringing more stress to your system, thereby decreasing your immunity. Positive, happy thoughts release neuropeptides that help fight stress. Laughter has many short-term as well as long-term effects. It stimulates your heart, lungs, and muscles. It cools down your stress response and can aid in muscle relaxation. It can improve your mood and your immune system. Cancer doctors have even seen better outcomes in patients who have a positive outlook versus those who have a doom and gloom mentality.

So seek joyous and happy encounters, read funny stories, surround yourself with upbeat, happy people, and see how your mindset--and possibly even your health--improves!

Stress relief from laughter? It's no joke
