Menopause

If you're a woman in your late 40s and beyond, you are likely all to familiar with the symptoms menopause can bring. Things like dry, crepey skin, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats.....all these symptoms can really make women uncomfortable. Menopause is the time in a woman's life when her hormones change and menstrual cycles slow and then gradually stop altogether. Some women go through surgical menopause with hysterectomy. If this sounds like you, what options do you have?

There are many hormone replacement therapies available. Estrogen is important for brain health, skin elasticity, and even bone health. Progesterone helps you sleep well and balances out the estrogen. Testosterone is also equally important (yes, women even need testosterone!) for libido and muscle retention. Some women even have problems with their thyroid levels when going through menopause, and there are several medications to assist with low thyroid levels as well. Talk to your doctor about your hormone replacement options.
